What is the braking system? The braking system ensures that the car can be brought to a stop when it is in motion. You operate the car's brakes by means of the brake pedal, which is always in the middle of the pedals, and with automatic machines on the left.

Modern cars are equipped with disc brakes. A metal disc mounted behind the wheel slows down when the brake pedal is pressed. Simply put, kinetic energy is converted into heat energy in this way. In other words: the brake pads that slow down the brake disc must be able to withstand great heat without wearing out very hard. Brake pads wear out and need to be replaced regularly.

A drum brake system is comprised of hydraulic wheel cylinders, a brake drum and brake shoes. Upon pressing the brake pedal, hydraulic pressure pushes the brake shoes against the drum, causing a braking action through fiction.
